A miscarriage. You are not alone. This does happen (yes, even when transferring high quality embryos). ⁠

It is important to remember that there is never a 100% guarantee that an embryo transfer will be a success. ⁠

If there is ever a circumstance where a miscarriage takes place, that does not mean your Surrogate “did something wrong.”⁠

There is no one to blame.⁠

Now here is the good news: the majority of miscarriages we see happen prior to the 6-week heartbeat detection.⁠

This means that following the event, your Reproductive Endocrinologist will regroup with you and plan for the next cycle. ⁠

This is not the end of your surrogacy journey.⁠
