Birth Control and Surrogacy: What You Need to Know

Let’s talk birth control.

You’ve been asking us an important question: “Is it normal for the agency to request the removal of my IUD or other implanted birth control before being matched?” The answer is a resounding yes!

Here’s why…

The reproductive endocrinologist at your Intended Parent’s clinic typically requires the removal of birth control to ensure you have a full menstrual cycle before granting full medical clearance. In some cases, they may even prefer two cycles, which can take 2 to 4 months.

To prevent any delays in your surrogacy journey, we highly recommend removing your IUD or any other form of implanted birth control before your match.

But that’s not all! There are other important considerations as you prepare for your surrogacy journey, such as avoiding new tattoos or piercings.
