Upon selecting Golden to embark on this extraordinary journey, a member of our Client Care Team will conduct a detailed orientation meeting with you. This important step in the process allows you the opportunity to identify additional matching preferences to create the most ideal scenario for your family building experience. At this time, we will also assess your Intended Parent profile and provide tips for areas of improvement. After this meeting is concluded and your profile is finalized you are entered into Golden’s Matching Matrix and your custom recruitment-cycle begins!
Surrogate Screening
Thorough Surrogate Screening
- Application
Surrogate applicants must successfully complete a detailed questionnaire and provide information regarding their pregnancy & health history, family, living situation, support system, employment, and they must discuss their motivation for wanting to become a Surrogate. This process can take applicants 45-60 minutes to complete thoroughly. They must also submit photo identification and sign a HIPAA release waiver for medical records collection and evaluation. - Interview
A member of the Surrogate Intake Team will conduct a detailed interview with the applicant to verify all the information she has provided, and to assess their overall knowledge and preparedness to begin with our agency. - Criminal Background Check
Surrogates and their partner/spouse (if applicable) will undergo a 7yr criminal check and address verification. Also, anyone living in the Surrogate’s home age 18yr or older is also subject to this same check. - Pregnancy & Health Records Collection
All previous pregnancy and delivery records are collected. In addition, Golden Surrogacy goes above and beyond to request any existing regular PCP records to help us further assess the most accurate 360-degree view of the Surrogate’s overall health history. All records are then evaluated by a partnering Reproductive Endocrinologist, as well as the reproductive team at the specific clinic of your choice. This preliminary review and approval process is completed prior to presenting a Surrogate profile to Intended Parents. - Insurance Review
The Surrogate’s insurance policy will undergo an analysis to determine if it has usable maternity benefits which may be applicable for the surrogacy journey. Agency team members also verify that all medical providers and delivery hospital are classified as in-network prior to finalizing those selections for your pregnancy. - OB Medical Clearance & Lab Testing
All Surrogates are required to have their OB sign our medical evaluation form to verify they meet Golden Surrogacy requirements, and to grant them medical clearance for becoming pregnant as a gestational surrogate. In addition, a cervical examination and preliminary infectious disease testing is conducted. - In-person Psychological Assessment & Interview
Golden Surrogacy takes mental health very seriously. Every Surrogate is required to undergo an in-person psychological assessment via psychometric testing such as the MMPI/2 or PAI, as well as a clinical interview. This is conducted by a licensed mental health provider experienced in third-party reproduction. - Social Worker Home-Inspection
A licensed social worker inspects the home of your Surrogate to ensure that she in a stable, safe, and clean-living environment during your journey. - Delivery Hospital NICU Verification
All Surrogates in our program must live within a reasonable driving distance from a Level II NICU hospital minimum. Many surrogacy agencies overlook this very critical component. - Final Director Level Interview
After every piece of pre-screening has been carefully completed and the Surrogate is ready for matching, senior leadership at Golden Surrogacy will conduct a final interview before granting approval.

Your dedicated Care Team navigates the project flow to coincide with the unique circumstances of your timeline and Surrogate match. Golden tracks every step of the process to ensure tasks are executed in a methodical and efficient time-frame.
- Third-party Management
Golden acts as the ultimate project manager actively engaging with each third-party professional working on your surrogacy journey. This includes checking in on nurse coordinators at IVF clinics, emailing attorneys to follow-up on your legal agreement, and so much more. Every aspect is examined and promptly tracked for a successful and timely outcome. - Surrogate Travel
Your Surrogate’s flights and hotel accommodations for screening and embryo transfers are researched and booked by Golden. All related costs, as well as any Surrogate cash advance for lost-wages, and/or childcare expenses are paid for by Golden. Most agencies do not have the resources to offer this service. - Local Monitoring
Surrogates require access to a local medical facility to have blood-work drawn and ultrasounds performed on behalf of your IVF clinic so they have the ability to monitor her hormone levels and uterine lining during the medication protocol. This is referred to as “local monitoring.” This monitoring must be conducted by a facility local to your Surrogates home that can produce same-day testing results back to the IVF clinic. Golden does all the research to find a suitable location. Going above and beyond, Golden also sets-up the billing with a corporate credit card to ensure prompt payment. - Insurance
Every Surrogate’s insurance policy is closely examined through a group of third-party reproduction insurance professionals. Your Surrogate’s Care Team will collect her insurance card and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and schedule, as well as oversee the review process. Should your Surrogate need a supplemental insurance policy your Care Team will facilitate that process. Also, Golden coordinates the life-insurance purchase and any other insurance product that must be procured for your journey. - Legal Review
Members of your Care Team will carefully examine the Gestational Surrogacy Agreement, aka “contract” when you receive the first draft from legal counsel. The contractual language and financial information is compared against our best-practice checklist to ensure consistency and accuracy of the information you are agreeing to. A detailed list of notes is then compiled and sent to you for consideration. - Hospital Introduction
Golden reaches out to your delivery hospital to verify they are in receipt of your parentage paperwork and are made aware of the impending surrogacy delivery. At this time a hospital tour and conference call are scheduled between all parties and key members of the hospital staff. This important step helps to ensure a smooth process on the day of delivery. - Escrow Coordination
Every reimbursement request that your Surrogate makes is first emailed to your Care Team for prior authorization to verify accuracy and appointment dates. In addition, a monthly statement is forwarded to Golden for further review. Your Care Team is in direct contact with the escrow manager daily to maintain the proper fiduciary handling of surrogate compensation payments in accordance with the legal agreement. - Medical Billing
Bills that are submitted to escrow for payment are carefully examined by your Care Team to ensure proper insurance coverage was applied first, prior to payment being authorized. Should discrepancies be found, Golden coordinates with your Surrogate and the applicable medical providers to resubmit the claims for corrected processing.

At Golden every Intended Parent and Surrogate is provided with the email address, direct line, and cell phone number for every member of their Care Team. Golden understands that a surrogacy journey is not a Monday-Friday, 9-5 process. Please feel free to call or email us when it is convenient for you, even outside of standard business hours; this is what we do! - Seamless Service
Each journey is reviewed with your Care Team by agency leadership on a weekly basis. Intended Parents and Surrogates may contact any team member, at any time to receive an accurate and timely answer. The entire team is always 100% knowledgeable regarding the intimate details of your journey. You will never be placed on hold or told, “I don’t know.”
Expert Attorney Referral
Golden will make a custom referral, based on where your Surrogate resides, to an expert third-party reproductive attorney. Surrogates are also provided a referral to independent legal counsel for representation and legal review. We have a trusted network of attorneys who have shown consistently favorable results over the years. Golden only works with the absolute best.
- State Licensed
All Golden legal referrals must be reproductive law attorneys, specializing in the field of third-party reproduction.Unlike many other agencies, Golden requires that your attorney be licensed in the state where your Surrogate resides and plans to give birth. The contract which will set forth the terms of the entire surrogacy arrangement with her must be written to comply with family-building laws of that state. This is crucially important when filing for the parentage paperwork, and for enforceability purposes.
In some instances, a court appearance may be required, and we feel that it is best-practice to have your in-person legal representation at those appearances coincide with the original drafting attorney to maintain consistency. Our process ensures that your surrogacy contract is always written by an attorney who completely understands the laws of the state in which they formulate an agreement to govern.
- Independent Legal Representation
To avoid any potential conflict of interest, legal referrals made by Golden are to independent attorneys and law firms that are separate business entities non-related to Golden Surrogacy LLC in any financial or business way. This ensures the accuracy and impartiality of all legal advice given. Intended Parents and Surrogates are also not required to retain the services of the legal referrals provided by Golden.
3rd Party Escrow Setup
Golden utilizes an independent escrow company that specializes in Trust Account Management Services for third-party reproductive arrangements. Funds are maintained and distributed in accordance with the highest level of fiduciary and ethical standards. All compensation payments and reimbursement requests related to your Surrogate are carefully distributed as per the guidelines outlined in your contract. Your Care Team works closely with the escrow company to monitor all transactions for accuracy.
Utilizing an independent firm eliminates the potential conflict of interest that arises when a surrogacy agency is holding escrow funds while also representing all parties to the reproductive arrangement.
