Having your tubes tied does not automatically rule out becoming a gestational Surrogate. As Frank explains in this video, gestational surrogacy uses IVF and an embryo transfer. It does not rely on fertilization occurring in the Surrogate’s fallopian tubes.

That answers the basic question, but it does not determine whether a particular person is eligible. Golden’s screening process and the treating fertility clinic still need to review your individual history.

Understand the type of surrogacy being discussed

In gestational surrogacy, the embryo is created using eggs and sperm from the Intended Parents or donors. The gestational Surrogate does not provide the egg. The embryo is transferred into her uterus by the fertility clinic.

This distinction is why a question about tied tubes is different from a question about using your own eggs. Our guide to gestational and traditional surrogacy explains the difference, and the IVF overview describes the main participants in the medical process.

Medical screening for a Surrogate with tubes tied

Tell Golden about the procedure when you inquire or apply. Provide the details and records requested during screening, including any related concerns you have discussed with your own clinician. Accurate information helps the reviewing professionals decide what they need to evaluate.

Avoid treating a reassuring general answer as a medical clearance. Your pregnancy history, current health, and other eligibility factors still matter. The clinic makes its own clearance decision after the required review.

Questions to bring to the screening conversation

  • Which records should I request about my tubal procedure?
  • Are there other parts of my pregnancy or medical history that need clarification?
  • What steps happen before the fertility clinic reviews my eligibility?
  • Who should answer a personal medical question about carrying another pregnancy?
  • What happens if a reviewing clinician requests additional information?

Take the next step without guessing

You do not need to resolve your own eligibility from social media comments or someone else’s journey. Start with Golden’s current requirements and provide a complete application. Your Care Team can explain the review process and help identify the appropriate professional for a clinical question.

The Surrogate application guide explains what happens after an inquiry and why preliminary acceptance is different from final clearance. A clear answer about your individual circumstances comes from that process.
