Surrogacy Myth Busted: The Real Roles in Gestational Surrogacy

🚫 Surrogacy Myth Alert 🚫

Can you believe that some think the Surrogate is the baby’s biological mother? This could not be further from the truth!

Let’s talk about it…

First of all, can we just stop with the word ‘mother’ here? It doesn’t apply.

In gestational surrogacy (which is what almost everyone means when they say ‘surrogacy’), the Surrogate isn’t biologically related to the baby. The embryos are created in a lab, using either the Intended Parents’ genetic material or that of an egg/sperm donor, then placed in the Surrogate’s uterus.

It’s science, not biology.

So, let’s give credit where it’s due–she’s the one making space, NOT DNA!
