Experienced Professionals for Your Journey
Trusted Providers for Surrogacy
Building a surrogacy team involves more than choosing an agency. Intended Parents may also work with an IVF clinic, a reproductive attorney, an independent escrow provider, an insurance professional, a reproductive mental health professional, and other third-party family-building specialists.
Golden helps families understand these roles, evaluate provider fit, and coordinate with experienced independent professionals throughout the journey. This page is written to help you ask better questions and compare surrogacy providers with clear expectations.

Who Is Involved
The Providers Commonly Involved in a Surrogacy Journey
Most Intended Parents work with several independent professionals across a journey. Each one serves a different purpose, and understanding those roles early makes the whole process easier to evaluate and navigate.
Choosing the best surrogacy agency for your family also means understanding how the agency selects, coordinates with, and maintains appropriate independence from the professionals involved in the journey. Read the guide to choosing a successful surrogacy agency.
01
IVF Clinics and Reproductive Endocrinologists
Your clinic manages embryo creation or transfer planning, medical screening, treatment protocols, monitoring coordination, and the clinical side of working with a Surrogate.
02
Reproductive Attorneys
Intended Parents retain counsel experienced in assisted reproductive law for contract drafting, review, and parentage steps. Surrogates always have their own independent attorney reviewing the agreement on their behalf.
03
Independent Escrow Providers
An independent escrow provider receives and safeguards journey funds, administers approved disbursements under the legal agreement, and keeps payment administration separate from the agency.
04
Insurance and Benefits Professionals
Independent insurance review addresses fertility treatment benefits, Surrogate maternity coverage, surrogacy-related exclusions, employer family-building benefits, and newborn coverage questions.
05
Egg Donor and Family-Building Support
Some journeys involve egg donor coordination, frozen donor egg programs, or donor-search resources, depending on the structure of the case and the clinic’s own program.
06
Reproductive Mental Health and Other Specialists
Depending on the clinic and the case, families may also work with reproductive mental health professionals, outside monitoring facilities, genetic counselors, or other clinic-directed specialists.
Independence First
How Golden Approaches Provider Recommendations
Golden does not treat provider recommendations as a list of names. The work is thinking through fit: communication style, clinical experience with gestational carrier cases, legal clarity, financial protection, responsiveness, and how well a provider functions inside the realities of a surrogacy journey.
- Recommendations are based on provider fit, experience, responsiveness, organization, transparency, and relevant surrogacy experience.
- Every outside clinic, doctor, attorney, escrow provider, insurance professional, and third-party provider is independent of Golden and its ownership.
- Golden does not receive referral kickbacks, profit sharing, or hidden compensation for introductions.
- No provider is automatically right for every family.
- Intended Parents generally retain the right to choose their providers.
- Golden may advise against a provider that does not meet program requirements or presents material licensing, competency, responsiveness, safety, or coordination concerns.
- Golden coordinates communication and journey steps but does not replace medical, legal, insurance, mental-health, or financial professionals.
Golden Coordinates
- Provider introductions
- Communication among the journey team
- Scheduling and milestone coordination
- Document and invoice routing
- Practical journey guidance
- Follow-up when questions or delays arise
Independent Professionals Decide
- Medical eligibility and treatment
- Legal advice and parentage strategy
- Custody and disbursement of escrow funds
- Insurance analysis and coverage
- Psychological or psychoeducational conclusions
- Professional services governed by their licenses and agreements
Fertility Clinics for Gestational Surrogacy
IVF Clinics and Doctors Golden Has Successfully Worked With
There is no one-size-fits-all fertility clinic for surrogacy. The right choice depends on your embryos, your location, your timeline, communication preferences, travel realities, package structure, and whether your journey includes egg donation or additional complexity.
The independent clinics and physicians below are ones Golden has successfully worked with in the past and may discuss with Intended Parents as they evaluate options. This is not a guarantee that a clinic is right for every family. It is a practical starting point for thoughtful comparison, and each provider is independent of Golden and its ownership.
Relevant considerations may include
- Gestational-carrier experience
- Medical fit
- Embryo status
- Clinic acceptance criteria
- Communication
- Third-party nursing coordination
- Package structure
- Travel
- Egg donation
- Local monitoring
- Responsiveness
- Physician and support-team follow-through

Specialized Fertility Care
Why IVF Clinic Experience Matters More Than Most Families Realize
Gestational surrogacy represents a relatively small share of overall IVF treatment, so not every clinic handles gestational carrier cases with the same frequency or operational experience. Gestational surrogacy is a specialized area of fertility care, and not every physician or clinic carries the same level of relevant experience.
Clinics handling a larger number of gestational carrier cases each year are more likely to have a structured third-party nursing department and nurses experienced in explaining medication protocols clearly to Surrogates and Egg Donors. The instruction and care involved in a carrier or donor cycle are not identical to treating a patient carrying her own pregnancy, and that difference can shape the treatment experience.

Clinics with meaningful third-party reproduction experience may be better prepared for
- Gestational-carrier screening
- Medication instructions
- Coordination with Surrogates and Egg Donors
- Outside monitoring
- Legal-clearance requirements
- Insurance coordination
- Communication among multiple parties
- Time-sensitive embryo-transfer planning
Golden’s Recommended-Clinic Standard
Medical-Record Review Before Match Presentation
Golden recommends clinics and physicians that are willing to review a prospective Surrogate’s available medical records before Golden presents her for a match. Clinic policies and procedures can change, so the clinic’s current requirements should be verified in every case rather than assumed.
Golden facilitates the collection of records through a professional medical-record service and coordinates review by the potential Intended Parents’ IVF physician or medical team. Golden does not review medical records and does not make medical determinations.
With the appropriate authorizations, the clinic should provide a preliminary acceptance decision or identify questions that should be resolved before presentation, rather than both parties learning later that the clinic will not accept the candidate because of information that could have been identified earlier.
Why This Matters
- Identifies clinic-specific concerns already visible in the records
- Reduces avoidable emotional disappointment
- Helps prevent unnecessary delays, duplicated work, travel, and screening expenses
- Allows questions to be resolved before a match is presented
Important Distinction
Preliminary acceptance is not final medical clearance. Final clearance remains with the Intended Parents’ IVF clinic after its complete evaluation, testing, examination, and current protocol requirements.
Clinic policies, review procedures, turnaround times, and fees can change. A clinic that accommodated Golden’s review protocol previously may have changed its internal policy. Golden and the Intended Parents should confirm the clinic’s current requirements before relying on a prior working relationship.
No clinic can guarantee a medical result. When comparing options, review medical fit, communication style, package structure, third-party coordination, response times, and the follow-through of the physician and the support staff. Many families consult with their top two or three options and compare service and cost structure side by side.
Independent Counsel
Reproductive Attorneys and Independent Legal Guidance
Surrogacy law, parentage procedure, and contract norms differ by state. Intended Parents need counsel experienced in assisted reproductive law, and Surrogates must have their own independent legal representation reviewing and advising on the agreement.
- Contract drafting and negotiation are separate from parentage work. Confirm at the outset which parts of the process your attorney will handle.
- The attorney must understand the law and procedure applicable to the Surrogate’s residence, the expected delivery location, and the Intended Parents’ own circumstances.
- The attorney determines the appropriate parentage process based on applicable law and the facts of the case.
- Golden helps coordinate timing and can point families toward experienced independent counsel. Golden does not provide legal advice, and this page is educational only.

Where the Money Sits
Independent Escrow Providers and Financial Protection
Golden does not hold, manage, or distribute Surrogate compensation or other journey funds. Those funds are held and administered by an independent third-party escrow provider according to the Surrogacy Legal Agreement and applicable escrow instructions.
The escrow provider receives journey funds, tracks obligations, processes approved disbursements, and documents each payment. Golden strongly prefers independent third-party escrow over casual or in-house financial handling. For many journeys Golden recommends SeedTrust Escrow because of its specialization in third-party family building and its transparency about fund protection. SeedTrust is an independent company. Golden holds no ownership interest in it, has no partnership with it, receives no compensation for introductions, and does not guarantee any provider’s performance.
What families should evaluate
- Independence from the agency
- Third-party family-building specialization
- Bond protection
- Insurance and the limits of that insurance
- Separation of client and operating funds
- Disbursement controls
- Dual approval where applicable
- Account statements
- Balance alerts
- Urgent-payment procedures
- Fraud and theft protections
- Audit or review procedures
- Closure and return of unused funds
Do not stop at asking whether an escrow company carries insurance. Ask what specifically protects client funds, whether a bond exists and at what amount, how disbursements are approved and documented, and how client money is separated from operating money. An ordinary errors and omissions policy alone does not fully protect client funds against fraud or theft.

Coverage Is Not One Thing
Insurance, Maternity Coverage, and Benefits Guidance
Fertility treatment coverage and pregnancy-related coverage are not the same thing. A surrogacy journey usually involves several distinct layers, and the earlier each is reviewed, the fewer surprises appear later.
IVF and Fertility Treatment Benefits
Coverage for treatment cycles, laboratory work, and clinic services. This is separate from anything related to a pregnancy.
Surrogate Maternity Coverage
The policy that responds to prenatal care and delivery. It is reviewed for surrogacy-related language, exclusions, and fit before a journey proceeds.
Medication Benefits
Medications are frequently handled separately, often through a specialty pharmacy with its own authorization rules.
Employer Family-Building Benefits
Some employers offer family-building support through a third-party vendor. Terms vary widely and should be confirmed in writing.
Newborn Medical Coverage
Coverage for the baby after delivery is planned separately from the Surrogate’s maternity policy.
Surrogacy-Related Exclusions
Policies may exclude gestational carrier arrangements entirely or in part. Exclusions are the reason an independent review matters.

Employer benefit administrators to ask about
Eligibility, coverage, and reimbursement differ by employer, carrier, policy, and state. Nothing here indicates that a particular Intended Parent or Surrogate will qualify for a specific policy or benefit, and Golden does not provide tax, insurance, or individualized financial advice.

Depending on the Journey
Other Professionals That May Support the Journey
Not every journey involves every professional below. What matters is knowing when each may be needed and what to ask before choosing one. Each is an independent third party and should be evaluated on fit, transparency, responsiveness, and professionalism.
Egg Donor Programs and Donor-Search Resources
When egg donation is part of the plan, start by asking your clinic whether it runs an in-house donor program and how that process fits your treatment timeline. Families may also compare frozen donor egg options or outside donor-search resources.
Ask: Are donor-related costs, medications, monitoring, or transfer components included in the package, and how is outside coordination handled?
Reproductive Mental Health Professionals
Psychological screening and psychoeducational consultations are typically directed by the clinic and the legal process. These professionals reach their own conclusions independently.
Ask: Who conducts the evaluation, when does it occur, and how are results communicated to the clinic and to counsel?
Local Monitoring Facilities
When a Surrogate lives away from the clinic, monitoring appointments happen locally and results are transmitted to the treating clinic.
Ask: Does the clinic accept outside monitoring, and does the package credit those fees?
Genetic Counselors
Some journeys involve genetic counseling in connection with embryo testing or family history considerations, at the clinic’s direction.
Ask: Is counseling included with testing, and who reviews the results with us?
Hospital and Delivery-Team Coordination
Ahead of delivery, the hospital, the Surrogate’s care team, and counsel align on documentation, birth planning, and parentage paperwork.
Ask: When does hospital pre-registration occur, and what documents does the hospital need in advance?
Newborn Insurance Guidance
Coverage for the baby is planned separately from the Surrogate’s maternity policy and is usually addressed before delivery.
Ask: What enrollment window applies, and what documentation does the carrier require?

Questions for IVF Clinics
- How often does your team work on gestational carrier cases?
- Will your physician or medical team review a prospective Surrogate's available medical records and provide a preliminary acceptance decision before match presentation?
- Is there a separate medical-record review fee, what records are required, how long does the review normally take, and how long is that preliminary decision considered current?
- What evaluations, testing, examinations, or approvals will still be required before the Surrogate receives final medical clearance?
- Which SART or CDC clinic outcomes are most relevant to our age, diagnosis, embryo source, use of a gestational carrier, and treatment plan? How should we interpret those results rather than relying on a headline success rate?
- What packages do you offer, and what is included or excluded?
- Does the package include Surrogate medication, Egg Donor medication, or embryo transfer costs?
- If outside or local monitoring is used, do you credit the package for those fees?
- How many embryo transfers are included if a package applies?
- What are the costs for embryo genetic testing or related lab services?
- How does your team communicate with Intended Parents, Surrogates, Egg Donors, and outside monitoring providers?
Questions for Attorneys
- How often do you handle assisted reproduction and surrogacy matters in this state?
- Will you handle both contract and parentage work, or only part of the process?
- What is the expected timeline for contract completion and parentage filings?
- How do you coordinate when the clinic, Surrogate, and delivery state differ?
- What legal costs are fixed, and what may vary based on the case?
Questions for Escrow Providers
- Are you fully independent of the agency and all ownership entities?
- What specifically protects client funds?
- Do you carry a bond, and if so, at what amount?
- How are disbursements approved and documented?
- How often do Intended Parents receive statements or account updates?
- How do you handle reimbursements, urgent disbursements, and balance alerts?
Questions for Insurance and Benefits Review
- What fertility treatment services are covered, and what is excluded?
- Are medications covered separately or through a specialty pharmacy?
- Are there exclusions related to third-party reproduction or gestational carrier arrangements?
- Who is reviewing the maternity policy for surrogacy-specific language, exclusions, or risk concerns?
- Does your employer offer family-building benefits through a vendor?
- What pre-authorization, timing, or network rules could affect your planning?
A strong provider is not only medically, legally, or financially qualified. The provider should also be responsive, organized, transparent, and prepared for the realities of third-party family building.

Choosing and Changing Providers
How provider decisions are made, who makes them, and what Golden does when a provider is not working out.
Do we have to use Golden's recommended providers?
In most cases, no. Intended Parents generally choose their own providers. Golden shares what it has seen across journeys and helps you evaluate fit, but the decision is normally yours.
Golden may advise against a selected provider when that provider does not meet program requirements, or where there are material concerns about licensing, competency, responsiveness, safety, or coordination that could affect the journey.
Can we work with an out-of-state clinic or attorney?
Often, yes. Many journeys involve professionals in more than one state. The right structure depends on your clinic, your Surrogate’s residence, your legal plan, and where delivery is expected to occur. Your attorney determines the appropriate parentage process based on applicable law and the facts of your case. See Surrogacy Laws by State.
Will Golden receive a fee for referring us to a provider?
No. Golden does not accept referral kickbacks, profit sharing, or ownership-based compensation from the independent clinics, attorneys, escrow providers, insurance professionals, or other third parties it may introduce. Every one of those providers is independent of Golden and its ownership.
Can Golden help if we need an egg donor?
Golden can help you understand the options and the questions worth asking, including whether your clinic runs an in-house donor program, how frozen donor egg arrangements work, and how donor coordination fits your treatment timeline. Choosing an Egg Donor for Your Surrogacy Journey explains donor source, arrangement type, and the factors to weigh before moving forward.
What happens if a provider we selected is not responsive or does not meet program requirements?
Golden will tell you what it is seeing, follow up directly with the provider where appropriate, and help you weigh whether to continue or change course. Where a provider does not meet program requirements or presents material licensing, competency, responsiveness, safety, or coordination concerns, Golden may advise against continuing with that provider. The professional decisions themselves stay with the licensed provider you retain.
IVF Clinics and Medical Care
Comparing clinics, continuing with a clinic you already selected, and what surrogacy experience looks like in practice.
Why does Golden coordinate IVF clinic record review before presenting a Surrogate for a match?
Golden coordinates this review so that the potential Intended Parents’ IVF physician or medical team can identify clinic-specific concerns in the available medical records before the Intended Parents and Surrogate begin investing in a proposed match. Golden facilitates record collection and coordination but does not make medical decisions. A preliminary clinic decision can help prevent avoidable disappointment, delays, travel, and screening expenses when an issue could have been identified earlier. It does not replace the clinic’s complete screening or final medical clearance.
What should Intended Parents ask an IVF clinic about preliminary Surrogate record review?
Ask whether the physician or medical team will review a prospective Surrogate’s available records before match presentation and provide a preliminary acceptance decision or identify concerns. Confirm which records are required, the expected turnaround time, whether there is a separate review fee, how long the decision remains current, and what additional testing or examination is required for final medical clearance. Clinic policies change, so Golden and the Intended Parents should verify the current process even when Golden has worked successfully with that clinic before.
How many IVF clinics should we compare?
Many Intended Parents find that consulting with two or three strong options is enough to make the decision clear. Comparing the consultation experience, package structure, third-party coordination, and responsiveness side by side usually tells you more than a single conversation does.
Can we continue working with an IVF clinic we already selected?
Usually, yes. Many families begin a journey with embryos already created or a physician relationship already established. Golden coordinates with your clinic on screening, medical clearance, monitoring, and transfer planning. Where a clinic’s third-party requirements or coordination practices create a program concern, Golden will raise it with you directly.
What should we look for in an IVF clinic that works with Surrogates?
Consider gestational-carrier experience, medical fit for your embryo status, clinic acceptance criteria, the structure of the third-party nursing team, how medication instructions are delivered to a Surrogate, willingness to work with outside monitoring, package inclusions, travel expectations, and follow-through from both the physician and the support team. Our guide on how to choose the best IVF clinic for surrogacy sets out the full comparison framework.
Escrow, Insurance, and Independence
Who holds journey funds, who reviews maternity coverage, and why independence matters in both.
Why does Golden emphasize independent attorneys and escrow providers?
Independence supports clearer roles and fewer conflicts of interest. Separating legal advice, fund custody, and agency coordination means the professional advising you on a contract is not the same party coordinating the journey, and the party holding funds is not the party requesting them.
What makes an escrow provider especially strong for surrogacy?
Look for independence from the agency, specialization in third-party family building, separation of client funds from operating funds, documented disbursement controls, regular statements, clear urgent payment procedures, and fund protections you can read and understand before you deposit anything.
Ask what specifically protects client money, whether a bond exists and at what amount, and what any insurance policy does and does not cover. A standard errors and omissions policy alone is not a full answer. Surrogacy Escrow: The Complete Guide walks through each question.
Who reviews a Surrogate's maternity insurance?
An independent insurance professional reviews the policy for surrogacy-related language, exclusions, and fit. Golden coordinates the review and the timing, and does not provide insurance advice or make coverage determinations. Coverage outcomes depend on the policy, the carrier, and the facts of each case.
Does Golden hold or distribute escrow funds?
No. Golden does not hold, manage, or distribute Surrogate compensation or other journey funds. Those funds are held and administered by an independent third-party escrow provider in accordance with the Surrogacy Legal Agreement and applicable escrow instructions. In a Variable Cost journey, the agency fee is paid to Golden, while third-party expenses and escrow are funded separately. The Golden Guarantee has a separate covered-program fee and payment structure.
